The university participates in the NCAA’s Division 1and is also a member of the Big Ten Conference. The university’s athletic teams are known as the Fighting Illini. The university operates a number of athletic facilities, including Memorial Stadium for football, and the Assembly Hall for men’s and women’s basketball.
